He went on to note his joy, in having been informed by his Yale transplant doctors that he need not follow-up for 2 months, as he is doing so well. This is the longest doctor-free interval he has yet been granted. Great news Dale!

CdLS Foundation
Cornelia de Lange Syndrome Foundation

1 in every 10,000 live births are affected by this congenital syndrome that you probably never heard of.  CdLS causes a range of physical, cognitive and developmental disabilities that range from mild to severe.  Common characteristics of the syndrome include low birth weight, slow growth, small stature and small head size.  Common medical issues that occur with CdLS include heart defects, Seizures, difficulty eating, vision problems, and hearing loss.  Missing arms, forearms or fingers are also present in some individuals.  Abnormalities on 5 genes have so far been identified as contributing to the syndrome and genetic testing can confirm the illness.  This is such a rare illness that many physicians do not recognize the problems and individuals are often misdiagnosed meaning that they do not get proper support services medically or educationally.

The CdLS foundation is a national organization headquartered in Avon.  The foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which was started in 1981.  It is the only organization in the US devoted to CdLS.  The foundation's mission is to promote the early and accurate diagnoses of the disease, support research into CdLS and provide help to individuals and families living with this disorder.

The CdLS foundation has Family Service Coordinators to provide support, access to Experts, and to help with Regional Family Gatherings.  THe Foundation offer twice-yearly Multidisciplinary Clinics for adolescents and adults as well as sponsoring Scientific and Educational programs for professionals.

1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all Concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
