Second Chance Re-Entry Initiative Program, Inc
Chief Executive Officer & Founder, Mr. Edward L. Andrews, B.S., is a sociologist, author, lecturer, and Urban Trauma specialist. Featured in three articles in the Hartford Courant newspaper, he became a guest on the talk show HPTV. Mr. Andrews authored "The Reminder,” a novel that reads like a memoir of his life from the streets of Brooklyn, New York. Now a long-time Connecticut resident, he participates in conferences, panel discussions and has been a keynote speaker at several events addressing criminal justice and urban trauma issues. Mr. Andrews has tutored and mentored young adults in psycho-education groups, volunteered his services for City Hall in Hartford, and became a Case Manager for a Halfway House in Waterbury.
Edward Andrews, who shared his personal story of overcoming past trauma and incarceration. Edward explained the work of Scripp, which helps individuals navigate past trauma and has a high success rate of keeping participants employed and out of prison. He emphasized the uniqueness of Scripp's model and its focus on providing positive impact and influence. Ed described the SCRIPT program, which provides comprehensive support for formerly incarcerated individuals. The program lasts 3-6 months and includes housing, wraparound services like trauma intervention, career development, and addiction services. Participants can save money from jobs in months 4-6 to prepare for independent living. Lawrence emphasizes the program's focus on addressing trauma and breaking cycles of recidivism. He reports an 86% success rate in preventing recidivism and 64% employment retention. The program serves about 45 people per year and receives referrals from various sources, including parole officers and halfway houses.
