Joanne Santiago
Joanne always knows how long she's been in Rotary, because she was pregnant with daughter Joelle when she joined. Joelle just had her 25th birthday, so Joanne has been with the club for 26 years. She has been a chiropractor for 42 years, and Joelle is studying to follow in her footsteps. This will make the third generation to be in the profession. For Joanne Rotary is a big part of her family.

Don Bonner reported that Nancy Nation had a double knee replacement. She will be on the physical therapy floor for 10 to 14 days. She appreciates all the email and cars.
Phil Ferrari was about to depart on a vacation - his first trip to Niagara Falls. Somebody in the room expressed concern that with the current political situation Phil might be thinking about moving to Canada.
Rollie Sterrettdidn't know that Larry Sullivan was back from his Florida sojourn, so he brought a joke about feeling like a newborn baby. Larry, who always comes prepared, had a joke about sensitivity in the navy.
Gary Hyde was about going to Florida to meet the Mets - something he has been looking forward to for awhile.
Gary Miller is sorry that ski season is nearly done, but glad there are not likely to be more days to decide early whether or when the Waterbury Schools will open.

TOTV
Gary Hyde has been passing out TOTV tickets for members to sell. In Gary's absence tickets will be with Michael Mezheritskiy. Also, see Gary when you have ticket money to turn in. If you and your friends would like to purchase VIP tickets, see Chuck Joseph.
Steve Roberto, co-chair of TOTV, is looking for help with the auction. Volunteers are needed. Items are needed. Steve urges members to go back to the merchants who have given the past. Steve intends to bundle items so that they have more wow factor than they would on their own.
New this year will be the "Wine Pull." Club members may donate wine valued at $20 per bottle. TOTV guests will be able to pull out a bottle of wine to keep. Amongst the $20 bottles will be a handful of expensive wines. This gives guests extra incentive. Members may also give Salin Low monetary donations to buy additional bottles of wine. Phil Ferrari recommends that members buy the wine at M&R Liquors because M&R has been so good to the club since the inception of TOTV.
International Committee
Craig Buhrendorf has announced that the next International Committee meeting will be Friday, March 11th at the completion of the regular meeting.

RPN is all about socializing, networking and getting to know your fellow Rotarians and their guests better. Bring your spouses, significant others, partners, friends, prospective Rotarians, etc.

Bike-a-thon on Friday, April 29
Paul Mikkelson announced that there will be a two-hour bike-a-thon at the Granby Y. Paul will be the leader and promises an easy ride. (Generally the lights are low, so no one knows if you have any tension on your bike.) We will ride stationary bikes in half-hour increments. Cost to ride is $20 per half hour. The money raised will go to World Bicycle Relief.
Don't Forget!! The Club Bike Ride will be May 2nd.
Dear District 7890 Members - Get Ready!!
The District Conference is planned for April 29 to May 1st at the Cape Codder Resort & Spa in Hyannis, MA. Our theme is Hawaii 7890.
The Cape Codder Resort & Spa is right off the highway and offers convenient parking. We plan to begin on Friday evening at 6 pm with a cocktail hour followed by a delicious Luau dinner.
We are also planning an exciting evening of entertainment. More to come on that.
On Saturday our general session at will begin at 9:00 am with registration and breakfast starting at 7:30 am. Saturday will be filled with exciting breakouts, as well as our Rotaract Conference. If you have a Rotaract Club or are thinking of starting one, be sure to be part of this. Youth exchange students and the South African VTT teams will also be presenting.
It’s been a great year for District 7890 and we plan to celebrate with fellowship and informative breakout sessions. And if anyone can inspire enthusiasm, it's our Rotaractors, Youth exchange students, and VTT teams; they’re an exciting bunch.

Jolly and Kurt Lux presented an impressive video which tells the work that GLO has done over the last three years.
Among their achievements:
Village Health Teams have been formed. This provides contact by members with those who live in outlying areas. The workers wear red t-shirts, so they can be easily identified.
Epilepsy Ambassadors - Masindi has a high incidence of epilepsy. This program allows 200 patients to receive monthly support and medicines.
Medical Camps - the first camp treated 500 people. The second camp treated 4,000 people! The next camp in Septemberwill see many more with the help of volunteers from Simsbury United Methodist Church.
Water Tanks which were purchased with a grant from our club are able to provide clean water to 400 families.
GLO wants to establish a health clinic which can help 1,200 patients per month. They also plan to establish a greenhouse on land donated by the local church. This will provide food and work for the health care workers. The proceeds from selling produce will also help to pay the health care workers.
Jolly and Kurt were effusive in their thanks to the club in making much of this possible through the three grants to GLO totalling $8,010.
There was a question about problems with the government of Uganda. GLO has not had any significant problems, which may be due to the fact that Jolly was born in Uganda. Also the problems in the country which make our news are in a different area.
In The Mail
We received thanks from the Kateri Medical Mission for our $2,000 contribution; from St. Patrick for $2,000 to buy computers in Haiti; and from the Salvation Army for the $1,750 we donated at Christmas.
