Cherie Morris was present to celebrate her birthday with us. She couldn't remember how long ago she joined Rotary (Dec 2017) but has enjoyed working with everyone. She thanked everyone for her many friendships. She has been especially active with chairing the Auction and Raffle baskets for the Tastes of our Valley and the Annual Charity Golf Tournament for the past few years.

Joanne Santiago was very happy to congratulate Mike Mezheritskiy on receiving the Loren Bristol Award from the Avon-Canton Chamber of Commerce. 
 
Phil Ferrari was heading to Normandy France to reinact the D-Day landing with a small group of fellow tourists.
 
Linda Pendergast would be away in Ireland next week and unable to attend the President's Installation Dinner.
 
Bill Budde said that he and Sue were heading to PA to visit his daughter. He also announced that he would be heading up sales for the Rotary of Avon-Canton Annual Charity Golf Tournament.
 
Brian O'Donnell was looking forward to attending his ??th high school reunion at Westminster school.
 
Bill Barnes was happy that the weather looked very good for a change for FVSO's outdoor concert in Farmington on Sunday.
 
Loren Clarke would be participating in Relay for Life on Saturday.

Chris Lamadrid reminded everyone about the Jack and Jill Baby Shower on Saturday afternoon at the FAVARH Cafe.
 
For the benefit of our guests today, Steve Morris gave a brief history of FAVARH which started in the basement of West Avon Congregational Church in 1958. Since then it has grown to be the multi-million dollar enterprise the services and houses hundreds of clients.

Presentation

Joanne Santiago, Foundation Chair, called Peter Vignati to the front of the room to receive some jewelry. Peter had achieved Paul Harris Fellow +3 and received his new pin.
 
Rotary Scholarship Awardees
 
President Luke Violette welcomed everyone. He said he had enjoyed attending both the Avon and Canton High School Award ceremonies.
 
Past-President Chris Lamadrid introduced Mardelle Peña, Chair of the Avon Dollars for Scholars Program. She thanked our club for starting the scholarships back in 1978. Mardella said that Scholarship America now handles the processing of applications. She was really pleased that  Avon Dollars for Scholars had received a $1.5 million request from an Avon resident's estate. Over 2000 scholarships have been award totalling over $2 million. Mardelle called forward each of the students who spoke briefly about their involvement in the community and the college they planned to attend in the fall.
Shaiyan Shah received the Donald B Studley Memorial Scholarship, Sreya Nistala received the Nancy Nation Community Service Award, Amelia "Mia" Titone also received the Nancy Nation Community Service Award, and Zoey Hatinen received the Bill Noble Service Scholarship.
 
Past-President Salin Low introduced the Canton High School scholarship recipients. Each of the students introduced themselves and talked about their community involvement. 
The students pictured are Leah Bradshaw, Rachel Sidrane (Interact), Nora McConville, Cayliegh Gendreau (Interact), Morgan Babbitt, and Liam Glassy. Not present were Cecilia Cournean and Christopher LaPlant, who received the Donald B Studley Vocational Scholarship. 
 
President Luke Viollette charged each of the students to continue their community service and to find a Rotary organization to join as they continue their future lives.
