Happy Dollars
Bill Barnes - reminded that the Farmington Valley Symphony Concert is coming up February 27. (See below).
Bob Cave - thanked Jim McIntosh for coming to the meeting. Others honoring Jim with Happy Dollars included: Bill Barnes, Kim Murphy (who gave Jim a birthday hug), and Robin DiNicola.
Tom Voorhees - advocated that Kim Murphy pay a fine because of her radio ads. Kim paid the fine.
Larry Haber - will be going to the Bushnell to see a performance of "Love Letters" which features Ali MacGraw and Ryan O'Neal, both of whom, Larry pointed out, are now in their 70's.
Dale Bronson - acknowledged that last Saturday (February 6th) was the third anniversary of the transplant that saved his life. He thanked his "personal trinity," Doctor Stuart Seropian, Wayne Hebebrand (his donor) and Dale's wife Christine. Dale asserted that he would not be alive today without those three individuals.
Phil Worley - had an "Unhappy Dollar" for the UConn men's basketball team for blowing last night's game. Phil also briefly explained how to access the "EagleCam" which played in the background throughout the meeting.

Jolly Lux - Kurt and Jolly were invited to speak about their Uganda mission in three different churches in the same week:
* First Congregational Church made a donation and gave medical supplies which supported GLO's recent medical camp. ( Phil Worley is a member of that church).
* Trinity Episcopical Church in Collinsville invited Jolly and Kurt to speak and will give a donation from their Ash Wednesday service.
* Simsbury United Methodist Church is partnering with GLO to do a mission trip to Uganda this fall which will include Doctors, educators and a construction team to support GLO's work in Uganda.
Jolly also thanked Reverend Bill who introduced her and Kurt to Pastor Woody Eddins and Michelle Ebert. They were speakers at the Club last April.
Jolly stated she is excited about these opportunities. She added much of the thanks goes to the Club , which "has supported us from the beginning when no one knew about us."
Don Bonner - will be in the Dominican Republic February 12-16. He will be helping his daughter Sarah with her volunteer work. They will be putting up a mural in a school building.
Evan Cooper - described January as a "tough month." She has been recovering from illness. Additionally, Evan urged members to check out her son's Facebook page. He is posting frequently about his volunteer teaching in Naimibia. She added that "Ben is an awesome kid."
Linda Pendergast - thanked Gary Miller for helping to correct her computer problems. Linda also revealed that "Grandchild #12 will be coming along in June."
Robin DiNicola - alerted that Avon Old Farms School would be hosting a speaker the next day. Edwin Bearss would be talking about the Civil War. His presentation would be open to the public.
Jackie Dionne - will soon be traveling to China for a 10 day tour of the factories that do business with her company.

Gary Miller - enjoyed this past week's Pre-PETS training in Chicopee which he attended along with Don Bonner. Like Don, he got to talk with Avon-Canton Past President Dick Kiesel. Dick plans to attend our February 19th Club meeting.

Bike Ride May 2nd
Paul Mikkelson has outlined the Club Bike Ride scheduled for Saturday, May 2nd. Club members will congregate at Sperry Park and head north along the Rails for Trails. The Ride will be an All Levels event in the sense that members will be encouraged to travel, including the return trip, only as far as they can comfortably handle. It is not yet determined how far north the hardier riders will travel.

The presentation of three classic silent films, projected above the stage and accompanied by a new musical score by William Perry, will be the highlight of the Farmington Valley Symphony Orchestra’s 35th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, Feb.27 at the Hoffman Auditorium, University of St. Joseph, 1678 Asylum Ave., West Hartford. Performances will be at 4:00 and 8:00 p.m.
Dear District 7890 Members - Get Ready!!
The District Conference is planned for April 29 to May 1st at the Cape Codder Resort & Spa in Hyannis, MA. Our theme is Hawaii 7890.
The Cape Codder Resort & Spa is right off the highway and offers convenient parking. We plan to begin on Friday evening at 6 pm with a cocktail hour followed by a delicious Luau dinner.
We are also planning an exciting evening of entertainment. More to come on that.
On Saturday our general session at will begin at 9:00 am with registration and breakfast starting at 7:30 am. Saturday will be filled with exciting breakouts, as well as our Rotaract Conference. If you have a Rotaract Club or are thinking of starting one, be sure to be part of this. Youth exchange students and the South African VTT teams will also be presenting.
It’s been a great year for District 7890 and we plan to celebrate with fellowship and informative breakout sessions. And if anyone can inspire enthusiasm, it's our Rotaractors, Youth exchange students, and VTT teams; they’re an exciting bunch.

Rotary Pub Night
Dear Rotarians:
Our next Rotary Pub Night (RPN) will be Tuesday evening, March 1st, approximately 4:30 - 6:30 pm. Phil Worley will announce the location soon.
RPN is all about socializing, networking and getting to know your fellow Rotarians and their guests better. Bring your spouses, significant others, partners, friends, prospective Rotarians, socialists, sodalists, soloists, etc.
You may, of course, come and go whenever you want to.
