Canton Economic Development Agency

Matt was introduced by Bob Bessel who also serves on the EDA.  The Canton Economic Development Agency representatives provided an overview of the town's economic landscape, highlighting challenges like high residential tax burdens, limited development opportunities, and public opposition to growth. They argued that carefully planned commercial and mixed-use development, including apartments, could help address these issues.  The presenters discussed the rationale for apartment development, including addressing housing affordability, attracting younger demographics, and generating tax revenue. They addressed common concerns about apartments, such as impacts on schools and traffic. The group engaged in a discussion, raising questions and concerns about apartment design, affordability, and the overall development strategy for the town. The presenters acknowledged the need to balance various priorities and considerations.

1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all Concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
