Both Bill Barnes (top) and Gary Roman (bottom) were both born on the 4th of July. We were happy to help them celebrate their upcoming birthdays. Bill was born not long after the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Gary was born some time later.
Happy Dollars
Since we lacked a volunteer to take notes for the EarlyRiser, Happy Dollar comments unfortunately can not be reported. As usual, we never lack from Happy Dollar comments, so be assured that we all enjoyed comments from members and our visitors.

For Your Listening Pleasure...
At the beginning of the July 1st meeting, Linda Kimball and her father, Paul, and Army veteran from WWII and Korea, regaled us with each of the Armed Forces unit songs and concluded with God Bless America. You may have seen videos of Linda and Paul leading our singing on our Facebook page.
Seniors Luncheon
(In the kitchen at the Canton-Avon Seniors Luncheon, July 2015)
Salin Low detailed that the annual Canton-Avon Seniors Luncheon will take place July 21st at the Canton Senior Center. ShopRite Supermarket will be donating the food and drinks again this year. Salin passed around a sign-up sheet at the meeting. Ask Salin for further details.
District Golf Tournament
Calling all District 7890 golfers.
You are cordially invited to attend the District 7890 Golf Outing on Monday, August 1, 2016 at Twin Hills Country Club in Longmeadow, MA. Have a great afternoon of golfing, fellowship, great food and fun all for the price of $125 – the same as last year.
Registration starts at 10:00 am
A barbeque lunch will be served at 11:30 am with a shotgun start at 12: 30 pm
Reception, cash bar, dinner, ice cream bar and raffle at 5:30 pm
For non-golfers, dinner is $35

Presentations
Our speaker was Andrew Wert, telling us about being a Rotary Exchange Student in South Africa during the time of Apartheid.
Andrew Wert, his wife Meg and 3 children moved to Avon, CT from Columbus, OH in 2003. In June their youngest daughter Emily was the last to graduate from Avon High School.
Over 30 years ago Andrew’s dad was a Rotarian in Ohio, the Andrew was the host brother to several Rotary exchange students and Andrew, his brother and sister were all Rotary Exchange students themselves.
While we have heard from exchange students in the past, I thought it would be interesting to have Andrew talk about his experiences with the Rotary Exchange program and reflect on how that experience has impacted his life.

I will be happy to training several members to produce the EarlyRiser. It's quite simple. The hardest part is talking notes during the meeting.
