the heart of the Farmington Valley and beyond, in January 2018.

newspaper editing, Bruce has also worked with ESPN.

Birthdays:

Sue Budde - July 31

Sue was glad that this wasn't an "important" birthday - divisible by 10. She can wait a year for one of those. She and husband Bill went to a museum and lunch and had a good time. (Bill later added that he had gotten good news - a place on his neck was benign.)

Sue assured members that she had made her donation to the Rotary Foundation online. She also thanked everybody who had wished her a happy birthday on Facebook.

Happy Birthday, Sue! Hope you get to smile like that every day in the coming year.

Happy Dollars

Bill Budde was happy to celebrate Sue’s birthday, as well as the good news about his neck. He is also happy to see golfers registered and sponsors signed up.

Cherie Morris was happy to have been to a family wedding in the Philippines. The couple actually met at a Loaves and Fishes occasion in the Philippines (Get that, Bob Cave!) She was able to speak to a teacher at an elementary school in the Philippines we want to help and learned how we could help best.

Joanne Santiago gave a happy dollar for Sue’s birthday and in memory of Craig Nation, who died earlier in the week, and of wife Nancy, who set the standard for service above self for our club.

Sue Budde let the club know that Ann Clark was in the hospital, first to monitor her heart function, and later to have a pacemaker implanted. She is doing well.

President Debbie presented honorary membership to Dale Bronson. Dale, a past-president of the club, has had difficulties attending meetings. We want him to know that he’s welcome when he can come, and we always think of him as an important part of our club. Dale was touched by the recognition as an honorary member and said he “likes it here a lot.”

Announcements & Upcoming Events

Colleen Grasso and Bill Budde spoke about the need to increase efforts for the golf tournament. In 2023 the tournament grossed $105k. To date $51.5K has come in. To match 2023 results, additional 26 nonsponsor golfers are needed, 5-6 sponsors needed, many tee signs (which are pure profit for repeats) could be sold. Remember that this event funds many of our charitable activities.

Bill said he is available to go with members to find businesses who may not have participated in the past. Emphasize that it’s a great course, and there is tremendous need in the Farmington Valley. Sue encouraged members to make the effort as a legacy to Nancy Nation and her commitment to raise money for worthy causes.

Superficial Radiation for Non-melanoma Skin Cancer
Jinda Vogel
Farmington Valley Dermatology

Don Bonner introduced Jinda Vogel who works with former member Sabrina Waqar at Farmington Valley Dermatology. Jinda works with a relatively new treatment for nonmelanoma skin cancers. She emphasized that the skin lesion must be malignant for the treatment to be effective. She also said that the treatment isn't for everyone. It requires treatments three times per week for a total of 20 treatments. However, more than one spot can be treated at a time.

“The FOUR-WAY TEST of the things we think, say or do”:

1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all Concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
