Numerous Club Members - expressed their happiness and excitement to have Nancy Nation attending the meeting.
Robin DiNicola - was happy that the day's Happy Dollars will be going to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's marathon run which Robin will be participating in. (See below).
Kurt Lux - shared that Jolly arrived home from Uganda last night. Her three weeks there were successful. Kurt is looking forward to eating healthfully again.
Lisa Barall-Matt - will be doing some business-related travelling and is looking forward to it.
Bill Barnes - was at Fenway Park on Patriots Day. The weather was "lousy," but Bill endured, and got to watch his Red Sox win 7 to 1. It was his first time at Fenway since 2012.
Mike Garcia - will be busy all weekend. The YMCA will be active at the Simsbury-Granby Rotary's River Run festivities and will also be holding its own event, the Healthy Kids Day.
Sandy Duffy (Visiting Rotarian) - is excited about the District grant that will be coming in for the WebCam Project. She is also looking forward to the District Conference.
Ted Cowles - stated Syrup Season was outstanding. He ended up with 69 gallons. Ted recently travelled to Bradenton, Florida where he saw his granddaughter qualify for the AAU National Gymnastics Competition.
Gary Miller - was playing golf yesterday when it started to hale. Gary and his wife ordered Apple Watches separately and several days apart, but they received an e-mail last night that the watches will be shipped together and arrive at the same time.
Dale Bronson - told an entirely true story about a very funny incident at Yankee Stadium. He is "excited" because his daughter has purchased a house in New Hartford that was built in 1838 and was a stopping off point for the Underground Railroad.
Nancy Nation - asserted that the card, e-mails and phone calls she received from Club members "meant so much." She thanked everyone and said "I may have some health issues, but I want you to know I'm going ahead with the golf tournament, and the first meeting will be next week."
Bob Cave - was recently involved in a charity walk that drew over 1500 participants.
Jill Glynn - thanked Club members for their support since her Mom passed away.
Larry Sullivan - was glad to see Jill Glynn back in attendance after missing several weeks.
Hank Frey - shared that the Club's tutoring program in Hartford is going well.
Jackie Dionne - told about a 10 year old girl from Simsbury who was inspired to start Shoes for Charity. Jackie's store has helped the girl collect 100 pairs of shoes. The drive has been going so well that the goal is now 400 pairs.
Salin Low - President Salin is glad that progress is being made on the WebCam global grant. She is also looking forward to the District Conference in Hartford over the weekend.
Announcements
Les Zinner - reviewed the details for the upcoming outing to the May 2 Rock Cats game. Tickets that include the pre-game picnic are $22. Tickets without the picnic are $12. Numerous Rotary Clubs will be in attendance, and District Governor Mike McGovern will be present.
Tom Voorhees - was still looking for volunteers to help with simultaneous Amber Alert sessions. One will be held at the Simsbury-Granby Rotary's Road Race. The other will be the Healthy Kids event at the Granby YMCA. The events were both scheduled for Saturday, April 25.
Tom Voorhees - stated that Favarh, an organization that the Club has had a long relationship with, is looking for volunteers to help work on the deck at their Juniper Drive group home. The work will be done Saturday morning at 8 a.m.
Paul Mikkelson - will be participating in Jim Calhoun's Bicycle Charity Run.

The 2015 Jim Calhoun Ride and Walk for Lifesaving Research and Care will take place on May 30 and will start and finish at Northwest Catholic High School in West Hartford. The event will feature rides of 12, 36 and 60 miles and a 5K walk, and as the day ends, there will be a celebratory cookout for all participants. Ninety cents of every dollar contributed by riders and walkers and their supporters will go directly to the cause and every UConn Health department will be eligible to receive funds raised annually by this event. I am raising funds for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to honor a great friend and fabulous hockey coach. If there is anyone who has ever made such an impact on your life as Coach Frank Usseglio has on my son Jack, you will know how important it is to give back and honor Frank. He was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma almost three years ago. Nobody knew about it until we noticed that he started losing his hair, losing weight and looking very pale. He never complained, and he was always there for the kids' practices and games with a big smile on his face. I'm asking each of you to consider helping by making a donation to my fundraising campaign.

Annemary Gordon - has three children, including 12 year old twins. She, her husband and the children left Ghana just this year, and moved to the USA. Annemary belonged to a Rotary Club in Ghana. She worked for United Airlines before coming to our country.
Presently, Annemary works for Plantings & Prunings LLC where she is an assistant manager, and Marshall's.
She shared an African proverb with Club members. "When you educate a man, you educate an individual. When you educate a woman, you educate a whole village."
