Gary Miller said his trip with Debbie to Cape May, NJ, for two nights followed by a high school reunion to former classmates was lots of fun. His great-grandson Alex's first birthday part is on Saturday at their has with a cast of thousands including Louisiana folks, assorted relatives and cats and dogs.
Bill Barnes reminded us that next week is Friday the 13th, but he won't be with us to talk about Friggatriskaidekaphobia. Bill. is heading to Colorado to spend time with his brother whom he hasn't seen in almost 9 years. His brother recently lost his wife.
Larry Sullivan told a story from Bob Uecker who is an American professional baseball catcher who is the primary broadcaster for the Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball (MLB). Bob said that a father gave his son a football, but the kids were having trouble playing with it until a neighbor offered to inflate it for them. :-)
Rollie Sterrett took his grandson to his Alma Mater Colgate for an ice hockey weekend. The new coach is a dear friend. They watched a two game series of women's hockey - Colgate (#4) v Ohio State (#2). Rollie was amazed how the women played. Colgate won the first game 3-2 but lost the second game in OT 2-3.
Salin Low traveled to Chicago with Jon to visit with their brothers. She pointed out the poster on the front wall and reminded everyone about the upcoming 50th Annniversary party on October 19th. Tickets are $65 each.
Cherie Morris reported that Canton HS would once again be the location for the FAVARH Christmas Party on Dec 13th with the Simsbury-Granby Rotary Club. Wish list cards for the resident clients will be available at a future meeting. Cherie was happy to be home from a great trip to Morocco. They were able to deliver all the donated items and enjoyed their trip. The Moroccan people are hoping that tourists will return soon. The perspective that the entire country was effected by the earthquake in one small region has complete curtailed visits.
Jolly Lux reminded everyone that GLOFest is tonight at the North House. It's one of their biggest fundraisers, so please come.
Linda Pendergast added to Salin's 50th Anniversary Party announcement saying that our club has accomplished so much that we need to celebrate.
Sue Budde showed off her new tattoo with a green ribbon for Liver Cancer in Bill's honor. 
Debbie Stanwood had to show off her new tattoo as well.

District Foundation Brunch tickets are still available through the District 7890 website at $55 each. The event is held at the Artisan Restaurant in Blue Back Square in West Hartford.
2023 Golf Tournament Results - Treasurer Phil Ferrari said that all the expenses are in and he can report gross revenue of $103,000 and a net profit of $65,000, exceeding last year's tournament significantly.
The Investment Committee will meet following this meeting.
Community Services Committee was also meeting today.
The initial meeting of the Rotary Men's Book Club was planned to meet at Beanz & Co at 9:30am today, but not enough members were available. Brian and Dick will announce the next meeting. The book for discussion will be David McCullough's The Pioneers.
