Thank You Shawn and Troy
President Gary presented our breakfast attendants Shawn and Troy with a sizable holiday gratuity comprised of donations from Club members.
Community Service Committee
The Community Service Committee will meet this Friday (January 8) after the Club meeting.
The December 18th online edition of the Hartford Courant included a write-up with the headline Rotary Club of Avon-Canton Gives $12,000 to Non-Profit Organizations.
The story details Club donations to eight non-profits:
Gifts for Canton
Avon Volunteer Fire Department
Guiding Light Orphans. Inc.
UCONN Health Center Neonatal Webcam Project
The Wish School
Farmington Valley YMCA
Avon Little League - Baseball and Softball
West Hartford Senior Job Bank
The Community Service Committee meets the first Friday of every month. All Rotarians, of course, are welcome to attend. See Paul Mikkelson for details.
International Committee
The International Committee will meet Friday, January 8 after the completion of the Club meeting. See Craig Buhrerndorf for details.
Club Website Advertising
You have probably noticed the advertisements on the upper left corner of the website. These advertisements help defray the cost of hosting and other services on ClubRunner.
The cost of an advertisement for one year is $100. If you are interested in advertising your business on the website, please contact me. You can provide a graphic, or I'll have one created that will link to all of your business contact information and website.
If you are already a website advertiser, please consider renewing.
Thank you and Happy New Year!!
Gary
Scheduling Speakers
Ike Eikenhorst is now scheduling speakers for March and beyond. Speakers are needed after that date, but keep in mind that the third Friday of each month is held aside for club business. Remember, business pitches are not allowed. Otherwise, persons with interesting jobs, hobbies, charitable activities, etc. will be welcome to present their stories. Presentations must not exceed 20 minutes.
Rotary Pub Night
The next Rotary Pub Night will be Tuesday evening, January 5, 4:30 - 6:30 pm at Avon Old Farms Hotel, specifically at the hotel's Seasons Restaurant Tap Room. Alternating between Tuesdays and Wednesdays didn't yield the desired results, so we are going back to the first Tuesday of the month for all RPNs.
As you have heard a few times, RPN is all about socializing, networking and getting to know your fellow Rotarians and their guests better. Bring your spouses, significant others, partners, pen pals, friends, prospective Rotarians, etc.
Our February RPN will be February 2nd, 4 - 6 pm at the Saybrook Fish House in Canton.
Lonely Rotarians Society
The Lonely Rotarians Society met December 31st at LaSalle Market. LRS meets on the occasional Friday when there is no Club meeting. All members are welcome to attend.
