Happy Dollars

Allan Nasson - a long time member of the Club, Allan was back in town to close out his Avon house and have everything sent to Utah where he and his family are going to build a new home. Allan loves his new job and the travelling involved with it. He thanked Club members who helped him secure his new position. Allan misses the Avon-Canton Club members. He still believes in Rotary, so much so that he has all of his store managers joining the Clubs in their communities.
Linda Pendergast - just welcomed a new grandson, William, to the family.
Larry Haber - will have a culturally diverse weekend with tickets to see the musical Anastasia and tickets to see Peter Frampton.
Salin Low - had a brush with a telephone scam. She warns everyone to watch out for telemarketers. On a happier note, Salin's mailbox key recently wouldn't work. The postmaster himself came out and installed a new lock.
Tom Voorhees - brandished a Happy Dollar to commemorate seeing Allan Nasson again. Additionally, Tom reported that his grandson graduated from Glastonbury High School.
Don Rossler - last Saturday, Don was a chaperone for a high school trip out to Catamount Ski Area (NY). Don also shared that his brother, who is a Captain in the U.S. Navy, has been named Deputy Commander at the Norfolk Naval Base.
Elizabeth Horyn - expressed happiness because the paperwork has gone through, and she is now OFFICIALLY a member of the Avon-Canton Rotary.
Bob Cave - acknowledged the Rotarians who volunteer to help with the Senior Job Bank.
Gary Roman - and his wife are celebrating their 40th Anniversary. Gary warned Club members about IRS telephone scams.
Steve Roberto - pointed out that today (6/10) was his daughter's last day at Canton High School. In September, she will be studying at the Greater Hartford Academy of the Performing Arts.
Paul Mikkelson - stated it was great to see Allan Nasson again. He also had a sponsor check for the golf tournament. He urged all the members of the Yard Goats team to sell those ads, sponsorships, tee signs and golfer registrations.
Robin DiNicola - updated that her son Joe attended the RYLA Conference at Springfield College last Saturday. Joe enjoyed the conference and "met two girls..."
Bill Barnes - detailed several items:
* He recollected that, a few years ago, his e-mail was hacked, and all his friends received an e-mail stating that he was penniless in London. The friends were asked to wire money.
* He stated that Jerry Franklin, the day's scheduled speaker, "sends all kinds of apologies" for having to postpone. Jerry is the President of Connecticut Public Broadcasting.
* He shared some funny headlines from newspapers and church bulletins.
Nancy Nation - greeted Elizabeth Horyn and welcomed her to the Club by giving her a Golf Tournament folder.
Jolly Lux - will be leaving for Uganda in two weeks, She is excited. Jolly also invited Club members to attend the upcoming GLO Fest. (See below).
Dale Bronson - heard a song on the way to the meeting. The title was "Your Mind Is On Vacation But Your Mouth Is Working Overtime." It was a love song.
Larry Sullivan - told a funny "resurrection" joke.
Joanne Santiago - thanked Gary Miller for the job he has done this year as Club President.
Gary Miller - enjoyed five days with three of his grandkids in Rochester, NY. He attended a Rotary meeting there. The Rochester Club does amazing fundraising events with just 18 members. Gary shared that he has accepted a job offer. He will be the new Executive Director of the Canton Chamber of Commerce.
Evan Cooper - thanked Gary Miller and Joanne Santiago for their "quick work" in securing the Paul Harris Plus 1 pin that she received last week.
Don Bonner - thanked Dale Bronson for writing and laying out the Early Riser the last two years. Don informed all that Dale is relinquishing his Editor's post effective July 1st. Don, who becomes Club President soon, is looking for volunteers to take over the Early Riser duties.

Joanne Santiago, Chair of the Rotary Foundation Committee, reminds all of the Club's Paul Harris Award winners that they should wear their "pins and regalia" to the President's Dinner as several Club members will be receiving community service-based Paul Harris Awards.
By-Laws Review Committee
Rollie Sterrett indicated that the By-Laws Review Committee was going to meet directly after the completion of the regular meeting.
The Spin Money

Paul Mikkelson updated that the $240 taken in at the recent Bicycle Spin fundraiser will be given to Jolly Lux who will be leaving for Uganda soon. She will be able to purchase two bicycles with the money. The bicycles will be given to residents of the community where Jolly, husband Kurt and GLO volunteers have established a medical clinic. Jolly thanked the Club for the Spin Money. She said that to be able to buy two more bicycles for the community is "exciting."

Important Note: Heather Pantano and Nancy Nation would like Club members to know that all silent auction and raffle items brought in count towards the Baseball totals.
Important Note #2: The "Trading Deadline" is July 1st. Club members, with express permission of their Captains, can switch places from one team to another. This needs to happen soon, however, as team rosters will be locked in on 7/1.
Get out there everybody!! Bring in those auction and raffle items!! Sell those ads, sponsorships, golfer registrations and tee signs!! And remember:

Rotary Pub Night
(RPN at Max-A-Mia, 6/7)
The June 7th Rotary Pub Night was held at Max-A-Mia and was another successful get-together.
RPN will be taking the summer off, but will resume in September at a pub in Canton. Details to follow.

You are cordially invited to attend the District 7890 Golf Outing on Monday, August 1, 2016 at Twin Hills Country Club in Longmeadow, MA. Have a great afternoon of golfing, fellowship, great food and fun all for the price of $125 – the same as last year.
Registration starts at 10:00 am
A barbeque lunch will be served at 11:30 am with a shotgun start at 12: 30 pm
Reception, cash bar, dinner, ice cream bar and raffle at 5:30 pm
