Cherie worked as a molecular biologist in a hepatology lab at the UCONN Health Center for twenty years. She now teaches biology, microbiology, as well as anatomy and physiology as an adjunct at Tunxis Community College, Central Connecticut State University and the University of Hartford.

When Cherie was a little girl, she used to daydream about becoming a scientist and traveling to Africa. In August 2016 she found herself in Africa presenting her scientific research to nursing students. At that moment, Cherie realized her little girl dreams had come true!

Cherie Walton grew up in Manchester, Connecticut, the only girl amongst four siblings. After graduating from Manchester High, she earned her Associate’s degree in Science at Manchester Community College, her Bachelor’s in Microbiology at Eastern Connecticut University and her Master’s in Biomolecular Science at Central Connecticut State University and UCONN.In addition to being a proud member of the Avon-Canton Rotary, Cherie in involved with the Tanzania Nursing Scholarship Program, which helps women in Tanzania complete their nursing and midwifery certifications.

Cherie loves yoga, pottery, reading, cooking, hiking, SCUBA, snowshoeing and traveling. She currently lives in Burlington, Connecticut with her very significant other, the “tall, handsome and all around awesome” Steve Morris and is currently considering adding a dog or two to the family.
