It was our privilege to welcome Ingrid Koerner to the Rotary of Avon Canton on January 10, 2025.
Ingrid was born and raised in Manchester, CT and is the youngest of six children. Her beloved Mother lived until she was one month shy of turning one hundred years old.
Ingrid is a loyal alumnus of Manchester public schools and began a life long devotion to classical ballet at age eight and was a talented student for twelve years. Her love of ballet was the impetus to become a classical ballet instructor in Manchester.
Ingrid received her associate degree from Hartford College for Women and received a bachelor’s degree from Simmons College in Boston. After graduation Ingrid had a full-time job and also attended modeling school. After graduating from modeling school, the owner of the modeling school asked Ingrid to be in a fashion show and this led to Ingrid becoming a model and a modeling instructor. Ingrid also enjoyed a wonderful career as the Office Administrator at a Hartford based dental practice for sixteen years.
Ingrid met her husband of thirty-seven years on a blind date. A friend of her future husband took pride in his matchmaking skills and was delighted to announce that Ingrid and her fiancé were his 14th successful “match”! Ingrid and Allan – an attorney, are the proud parents of a son and two daughters who live all over the country in Chicago, Denver and San Francisco.
Ingrid and her family lived in Farmington for more than thirty years, moving and downsizing to Avon recently. Ingrid and Alan are avid hikers and have enjoyed climbing locally, in the Canadian Rockies, Swiss Alps, Croatia, Ireland and Tuscany. Ingrid enthusiastically enjoys the ballet and opera season over the baseball and football seasons.
Ingrid is very happy and grateful to be a new member of the Rotary of Avon Canton and looks forward to being an active member and getting to know all of her fellow Rotarians.
