We are delighted to welcome Johnny Guillot as the newest member of the Rotary Club of Avon-Canton.  He was introduced by membership chair Peter Vignati and officially received by President Luke on June 14.

"As a veteran," says Johnny, "it was especially appropriate that I was inducted on Flag Day."  He is a Purple Heart recipient and served with the Marines as a Rifleman in Vietnam.  He continues in service as an active member of the Avon-Canton VFW.

Johnny grew up in Putnam, CT and has a degree in Engineering and a Masters in Education.  He and his wife, Elaine, who now reside in Avon, previously lived in Massachusetts and Vermont.  "We have two grown daughters, Rachel and Sarah, and one grandson,"  he says proudly.  "We also have a wonderful rescue dog we named Lani."

Johnny is well-prepared for fulfilling Rotary's motto of "Service Above Self."  When his kids were young, he notes, "we lived in Central America, volunteering as International Partners for Habitat For Humanity International for two and a half years."  Currently, he delivers Meals on Wheels and is an active member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Ann's Parish."

As one who very much enjoys being active in his spare time as well, Johnny says that he especially likes to bike, cross-country ski, snowshoe and garden.

Please introduce yourself to our newest member.  We are very happy to welcome Johnny as an Avon-Canton Rotarian.
